901 Shelby Street, 2nd Floor, Indianapolis, IN 46203
Hours:
Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm
Salary: $38,000 annually
Key Responsibilities- Greet and assist neighbors, ensuring everyone feels respected, seen, and valued.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls and email inquiries.
- Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming reception area.
- Support scheduling and calendar management for staff, including appointments and community events.
- Support the office manager with administrative tasks: data entry, filing, document prep, and copying.
- Help visitors complete intake forms for coaching, pantry, and programs.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Uphold confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in receptionist, front‑desk, or customer‑facing roles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to multitask in a busy, mission‑driven environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic database systems.
- Professional, friendly demeanor with a commitment to equity and inclusivity.
- Customer-service mindset with empathy and cultural competence.
- Ability to adapt in a dynamic, community‑focused nonprofit setting.
- Problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Team player who can cross‑collaborate across departments.
There will be some instances when work in the evening or weekends may be required; work hours will be adjusted accordingly when this occurs.
SECS offers the opportunity to flex time when approved by supervisor.
Work from home is not a regular part of our culture; however, special circumstances will be considered.
The receptionist role does encounter a variety of personalities and strong emotions port is provided when necessary.
