Senior Accountant

Location: Indianapolis

The primary responsibility of the Senior Accountant is to ensure accurate and timely maintenance of accounting records for the U.S. Utilities through support of the monthly close process. This role requires strong analytical skills and sound judgment, as the candidate will make independent decisions while performing accounting activities where only general guidelines or procedures are available.

The Senior Accountant will collaborate with various accounting teams to provide assistance, training, and workload balancing support as needed. This position offers regular exposure to company leadership and opportunities for professional growth. The candidate will be expected to build and maintain effective working relationships within the accounting organization and across other business areas supported by the accounting function.

* PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

** Perform ad hoc accounting analyses and tasks as requested by management  
** BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
** Minimum of five years relevant accounting experience

Experience with the month end accounting close process Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task In-depth knowledge of US GAAP Strong interpersonal skills to interface with teams within the accounting and business operational areas  Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills

Excellent Microsoft Excel skills Ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently
** PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
** Experience in a public utility environment Experience in a service company environment Knowledge of US Utility industry accounting practices and rate making principles In-depth knowledge of the FERC Uniform System of Accounts strongly preferred Experience in SAP ERP system strongly preferred
