Location: Indianapolis

Our client is seeking a skilled Income Tax Preparer on a contract basis to assist with the upcoming tax season. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in preparing individual and small business tax returns, will be proficient in utilizing Tax software programs and will possess strong organizational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare individual and small business tax returns in accordance with current tax laws and regulations.

Utilize Tax software proficiently to input, review, and finalize tax documents.

Conduct thorough tax research to ensure compliance and identify potential tax‑saving opportunities for clients.

Collaborate with clients to gather necessary financial information and documentation.

Provide proactive tax planning advice to clients to minimize tax liabilities and optimize financial outcomes.

Maintain organized records of client information and tax documents for easy retrieval and reference.

Review client‑provided financial statements and make appropriate adjustments for tax compliance.

Communicate effectively and professionally with clients to address inquiries, provide updates, and offer personalized tax advice.

Learn and understand the business and industry of clients.

Stay updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards to ensure compliance and provide accurate guidance to clients.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

CPA or Enrolled Agent certification preferred.

3+ years of experience in tax preparation for individuals and small businesses.

Proficiency in Ultra Tax software or other tax preparation software is required.

Strong understanding of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in preparing tax documents.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients and colleagues.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Compensation and Benefits
