Accounting Manager

Duration: ~3-6 months

Start: Immediate (as soon as next week)

Location: Remote, with occasional travel to Midwest (1–3x over contract, 1–2 days each)

We are seeking an Accounting Manager–level professional to support a PE-backed manufacturing organization with year-end close and audit readiness engagement. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role; there is no direct team supervision.

The ideal candidate will help ensure a clean trial balance is delivered to external auditors and assist with operational accounting processes while identifying opportunities for process improvement.

• Lead or assist with year-end close
• Prepare and support audit readiness (external auditor engagement)
• Perform day-to-day accounting tasks and operational support
• Conduct a wide range of balance sheet and account reconciliations
• Document policies, procedures, and accounting workflows
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency

• Experience in the manufacturing industry
• General understanding of inventory, cost accounting, and revenue recognition
• Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver audit-ready work papers
• CST preferred; open to EST or MST
• Willingness to travel to Midwest locations 1–3 times during contract (1–2 days each)

• Experience with Sage or similar ERP systems
• Exposure to CPG companies or PE-backed environments
