Role Overview
The Chemist will be responsible for process development, optimization, and scale-up of specialty chemical molecules from lab to pilot/plant scale. The role requires strong technical expertise, documentation rigor, and collaboration with cross-functional and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and optimize synthetic routes for target molecules
Execute lab-scale reactions and ensure reproducibility
Conduct process optimization (yield improvement, cost reduction, impurity control)
Support technology transfer from R&D to plant scale
Maintain accurate documentation (BMR, SOPs, lab notebooks)
Perform analytical interpretation (HPLC, GC, NMR, etc.)
Troubleshoot process challenges during scale-up
Coordinate with plant teams, QA/QC, and project managers
Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
Required Competencies
M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Chemistry
2–6 years of experience in CDMO / CRO / Specialty Chemicals / API manufacturing
Strong understanding of reaction mechanisms and process chemistry
Experience in scale-up and tech transfer is preferred
Knowledge of analytical techniques (HPLC, GC, NMR, IR)
Good documentation and communication skills
