The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a Research Associate II - Feeds and Nutrition to support and conduct on station and on farm dairy, poultry and fish trials, data collection, nutrition profiling, stakeholder meetings, market studies, technoeconomic evaluation, and related field research activities in India.
ILRI works to improve food and nutritional security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for efficient, safe and sustainable use of livestock. It is the only one of 15 CGIAR research centres dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, it has regional or country offices and projects in East, South and Southeast Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in planning and production of biofermentation of crop residues
Assist with the preparation, processing, and laboratory analysis of feed ingredients, including nutrient profiling, digestibility testing, and safety assessments.
Assist in the planning and execution of feeding trials.
Conduct field data collection, sampling, and initial sample preparation for quality assessment, including activities related to on-station and on-farm trials.
Maintain accurate records of field activities and data.
Facilitate and lead trainings, field days, workshops, and other knowledge-sharing activities with farmers, private-sector partners, and service providers.
Assist with reporting and documentation of trial progress and results.
Supervise research technicians, data collectors, and casual workers involved in field activities.
Support studies on technoeconomics and marketing
Support assessment of methane emission measurements
Execute other related duties as required by the supervisor.
Requirements
Masters in animal science /animal nutrition with at least two years of relevant work experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; basic knowledge of statistical software is a plus.
Good writing and oral communication skills in English
Hands-on experience in conducting feeding trials, farm operations, or agricultural fieldwork.
Familiarity with tools and equipment used in field research.
Strong practical skills in field experimentation, sample collection, and laboratory procedures.
Ability to manage multiple activities across farm, laboratory, and field settings.
Competence in data entry, cleaning, and use of statistical or spreadsheet software.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining high-quality records.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Willingness to travel frequently to field sites.

The position will be based in Hyderabad, India
Terms of Appointment
This position is at job level HG 11 and it is only open to Indian nationals.
The position is a 3 years contract. ILRI offers a competitive salary and benefits package which includes pension, medical and other insurances.
