Basic
Purpose:
Materials Synthesis and Catalyst Testing – Meeting the Research and Prototype Sample evaluation requirements of R&D department of BASF Catalysts R&D division.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Prioritize safety in lab operation;
To maintain a Clean and Safe Work environment by following the best practices of 3C & 5S, demonstrate a Continuous Improvement mindset to improve lab safety and quality of output.
Assist in evaluation of catalyst articles and the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the catalyst evaluation unit(s)
Perform synthesis of zeolites/molecular sieves in autoclaves following written SOP and established recipes.
Carry out post synthesis modification of zeolites including calcination, ion-exchange, and catalyst preparation on as needed basis.
Make observations during the experiments and report/discuss these observations with the researchers.
Work with individuals from the same team as well as other teams and ensure complex tasks with competing priorities are completed in a timely and effective manner.
Ensure all inventory in the lab area is adequately stored as per best practices with labeling and packaging for raw materials, intermediate materials and finished materials/articles as per site procedures.
Utilize Microsoft Excel to catalogue and / or plot results and maintain Excel Summary files
Report Near Miss, Unsafe Act and conditions in yellow tag report out system, participate in risk assessments and implement corrective actions as and when required.
Ensure all machinery are maintained as per standard practices and resolve any breakdowns or repair with support from allied departments.
Recognize when results are not meeting expectations. Either resolve minor problems through established troubleshooting techniques or advise the supervisor of these deviations.
Job requirement
Preferred
Qualification:
Master's degree (M.Tech./M.E./equivalent) in Chemical Engineering / Materials Science or related fields with 2+ years of relevant lab experience in an industrial or academic environment.
Bachelor's degree (B.Tech./B.E./B.Chem. Eng./equivalent) in Chemical Engineering / Materials Science/related fields or M.Sc. in Chemistry or related fields with 4+ years of relevant lab experience may also be considered
Proficiency in data analysis tools preferred.
