Lead Researcher - Climate Adaptation & Water Management | Ladakh

About Us

Acres of Ice pioneers automated water management solutions for mountain communities facing climate change. Our Automated Ice Reservoirs (AIR) and Micro Irrigation Systems (AMIS) serve hundreds of households in Ladakh.

The Role

Lead our research department, designing field experiments that shape water security for 14 million mountain dwellers. Based in Leh, you'll analyze environmental/sensor data from our installations, publish peer-reviewed findings, and bridge academia with real-world climate adaptation impact.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and execute field experiments on ice reservoir performance, irrigation efficiency nd other water management ventures

- Manage multi-site sensor data and develop predictive models for system optimization

- Author journal articles, technical reports, and grant proposals

- Supervise junior researchers and coordinate with tech/community teams

Requirements

- Master's/PhD in Physical Geography, Glaciology, Climate Science, Hydrology, or related field

- Published research portfolio (reports/papers/articles)

- Mountaineering and trekking experience

- Strong quantitative skills: statistical analysis, Python/MATLAB, experimental design

- Experience with meteorological/environmental data and field research
