Li-ion Battery Manufacturing Expert – Cell Assembly & Formation (Cylindrical / Prismatic)

Purpose
We are seeking a highly experienced  Li-ion battery manufacturing expert  to lead the  commissioning, launch, and ramp-up of cell assembly and formation lines . This is a  hands-on shop-floor leadership role  responsible for ensuring production capacity, high yield, and world-class cell quality while mentoring engineers, technicians, and operators.

Key Responsibilities
Lead  commissioning, pilot runs, and ramp-up  of  cell assembly and formation lines .
Provide  technical leadership and training  across processes including  stacking/winding, welding, encasing, electrolyte filling, formation cycling, aging, and cell grading .
Drive  process optimization  to achieve targets for  UPH, OEE, First Pass Yield, and cell performance .
Troubleshoot issues related to  welding quality, filling accuracy, micro-shorts, voltage irregularities, high DCIR, self-discharge, and cell failures .
Support  new cell chemistry introduction and pilot production  with R&D and engineering teams.
Establish  SOPs, process control plans, and quality standards  in a dry-room manufacturing environment.
Lead  continuous improvement initiatives  to improve yield, reduce defects, and optimize cycle time.
Collaborate with  Mechanical, Electrical, and Quality teams  to ensure equipment reliability and stable production.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD  in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Mechatronics, or related engineering field.
10+ years of hands-on experience  in  Li-ion battery manufacturing (cell assembly and/or formation)  in  high-volume GWh-scale plants .
Proven experience in  line commissioning, stabilization, and production ramp-up .
Strong knowledge of  cell assembly processes and formation cycling/testing .

Experience with  SPC, MES, PLC troubleshooting, Lean, Six Sigma, and PFMEA .
Strong  problem-solving skills (8D, DMAIC, 5-Why)  and ability to train production teams.
Willingness to  work extensively on the production floor (>80%) during ramp-up .
Excellent  communication and leadership skills in English .
Contract Details
Fixed-term contract:  1 year  (extendable based on performance and project requirements).
Competitive salary based on experience.
