Continuous Casting Machine - Head

Location: Prakāshamnagar

Lead CCM Team. Establish CCM process standard and develop quality procedure and SOPs. Achieve 550/ 550D & CRS production target with desired quality standard. Maintain CCM equipment for maximum uptime including inventory of critical spares part. Establish and train CCM team. Reduce cost of 550D & CRS production per ton without compromising quality on time. Interact closely with sales team to get feedback from the customer and continuously improve product quality.

Closely interact with RM team to synergize production. Guide Shift In charge for maintaining metallurgical standard. Implement best safety & HK practices in SMS/CCM. Drive Team Building Initiatives to motivate and boost the morale of SMS/CCM Team. Prepare and present production MIS. Drive KIZEN /TPM initiative to improve efficiency of SMS & CCM. Conduct RCA for all the major breakdowns for more than 2 hrs so that improve the quality of SMS/CCM.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Leadership
Ø Lead and manage CCM production to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
Ø Monitor process parameters including casting temperature, mould level, hydraulics, automation operations, casting speed, cooling systems, and tundish management.
Ø Ensure smooth start-up, sequence change, heat sequence planning, and shutdown activities.
Ø Optimize casting performance for maximum yield and minimum downtime.
2. Production Planning & Control
Ø Coordinate with SMS, LRF, RM & logistics for heat sequence planning and billet dispatch schedules.
Ø Manage billet sizes, grades, heat numbers, traceability, and production documentation.
Ø Prepare production MIS reports including output, yield, rejection, and cost metrics.
3. Quality Assurance
Ø Ensure billets meet customer specification and metallurgical standards.
Ø Drive process improvement for reducing defects like cracks, pinholes, segregation, blowholes, taper issues, etc.
Ø Implement quality SOPs, ISO standards, SPC monitoring & continuous improvement methodology.
Ø Responsible for controlling and preventing cold billet issues, crack material, billet length variation, piping material, taper material, and chilly material to ensure smooth and defect-free billet casting.

4. Maintenance Coordination
Ø Work closely with maintenance team for preventive & breakdown maintenance.
Ø Monitor mould conditions, nozzle Life, roll alignment, water spray circuits, lubrication systems, and CCM consumables.
Ø Approve and monitor annual shutdown planning, maintenance budget, and spares consumption.
5. Safety & Compliance
Ø Enforce strong safety culture ensuring zero LTI and adherence to PPE & statutory compliance.
Ø Ensure all SOPs, hazard identification, risk assessment (HIRA), and safety audits are complied.
Ø Lead incident investigations, corrective actions & root cause analysis.
6. Team Management & Training
Ø Lead, mentor and develop CCM engineers, supervisors, and operators.
Ø Plan manpower deployment, skill assessment, and training programs.
Ø Ensure effective shift handover procedures and responsibility structure.
Key Skills & Competencies

Required:

Ø Strong understanding of Continuous Casting technology.
Ø Knowledge of metallurgical principles, machine alignment and casting metallurgy.
Ø Experience in PLC/SCADA/HMI based automated CCM.
Ø Hands-on knowledge in analysing casting defects and improving yield.
Ø Leadership, decision making, planning & cross–functional coordination skills.
Data analysis and OEE/TPM/Lean manufacturing exposure.

Education & Experience:

Qualification
B.Tech / Diploma in Metallurgy/Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering
Total Experience
Minimum 10–20 years in Steel Plant CCM operations
Relevant Role Experience
Minimum 5+ years handling leadership role in CCM (as A.G.M./D.G.M.)
Work Environment:
Ø High-temperature steel plant environment.
Ø Rotational/On-call availability depending on plant operations.
