The Associate Director, Global Supply Planning is a strategic and operational leader responsible for end-to-end orchestration of Amgen's global planning ecosystem across the product portfolio.
This role leads a multi-functional organization that manages processes for balancing demand and supply choices. It has the accountability to assist and manage the identification and resolution of plan variances, inventory, cost and service optimization in alignment to the business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Global Monthly Planning Cycle
Own and govern the execution of Amgen's monthly planning cycle across the product portfolio.
Engage with cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment across Global Supply Chain Leads (GSCLs), sites and regional demand planning
Develop scenario modelling capabilities and lead analysis of portfolio trade-offs to support decision-making and risk mitigation.
Deliver a balanced demand-supply plan, support capacity alignment, and inventory optimization across the global network.
Strategic Scenario Planning
Lead execution of product and network scenarios to support Global Supply Chain Leads.
Translate business risks, demand shifts, and capacity constraints into tangible scenarios to support fast decision making.
Drive transparency and structured governance in decision-making forums.
Business Performance & Financial Integration
Lead a team responsible for global supply planning and site supply chain business performance activities, including:
Conduct monthly and quarterly business reviews
Use metrics and analytical tools to understand areas for opportunity and change for both site-level and global supply chain performance.
Execute budget planning and financial alignment
Align operational plans with financial commitments and long-range plans.
Drive continuous improvement in data quality, reporting automation, and performance visibility.
Demand Insights & Forecast Excellence
Lead a demand insights team that generates advanced analytics, performance indicators, and business intelligence.
Identify opportunities to strengthen demand signal understanding across commercial and supply stakeholders.
Develop leading indicators that enhance supply reliability while optimizing cost and inventory.
Leverage digital tools, analytics, and AI-enabled insights to improve forecast accuracy and bias management.
Raw Material Procurement & PO Management
Oversee execution of elements of raw material buying and purchase order management.
Accountability to ensure material availability supports production schedules .
Leadership & Organizational Responsibilities
Lead and develop a multi-functional team spanning planning operations, business analytics, demand insights, and materials management.
Establish clear performance expectations, talent development plans, and succession strategies.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Drive digital transformation and process standardization across global planning.
Champion cross-functional partnership across Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Commercial, and Global Supply Chain organizations.
Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree and 4 years of Supply Chain, Operations, or related experience
OR
Master's degree and 8 years of Supply Chain, Operations, or related experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 10 years of Supply Chain, Operations, or related experience
OR
Associate's degree and 12 years of Supply Chain, Operations, or related experience
OR
High school diploma/GED and 14 years of Supply Chain, Operations, or related experience
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of progressive leadership experience in global supply planning, S&OP/IBP, or supply chain management
Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or regulated manufacturing environments
Demonstrated success leading multi-layered, cross-functional teams
Strong financial acumen with experience integrating operational and financial plans
Expertise in demand planning, supply planning, and scenario modelling
Experience with advanced analytics and digital supply chain tools (e.g., SAP, Kinaxis, OMP, Anaplan, Power BI, etc.)
Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a complex global matrix organization
