Organizational Overview

Synchrony's Risk Team provides independent oversight of Synchrony's risk-taking activities to ensure safety and soundness, meet regulatory and legal requirements, and manage risks to the risk-appetite of the Board. Risk is responsible for independently assessing, quantifying, and overseeing risks & providing effective challenge. Risk serves as Synchrony's Second Line of Defense.

Overall, Risk Team oversees and manages the Risk Program to support the business in anticipating and addressing risks, issues and challenges. Results are consistent with the respective strategic uses and complying with related overall risk, risk testing policies, standards, procedures as well as regulations. Our Risk organization consists of 4 pillars:
Compliance, Credit & Financial Risk, Enterprise Risk and Operational Risk. Each of the pillars play a vital role in managing Risk and supports the business in anticipating and addressing risks, issues, and challenges.

Role Summary/Purpose

Scrum Master is an individual contributor role supporting multiple projects and initiatives across various teams in Enterprise Governance Risk and Compliance eGRC Technology. This role will facilitate multiple software development initiatives supporting the Risk & Compliance business objectives to successfully drive successful releases. The candidate is a servant-leader who helps the team follow agile principles and processes, clearing obstacles that hinder productivity and manages prioritized outcomes on the Agile release schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitate Scrum Events:
Lead and support all Scrum events, such as Daily Scrums, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
Support Backlog Management:
Help the Product Owner ensure the Product Backlog is well-defined and clear.
Foster

Collaboration:

Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between the team, the Product Owner, and other stakeholders.
Promote Scrum Adoption:
Lead, coach, and train the organization in its adoption of the Scrum framework and Agile values.
Drive Continuous Improvement:
Assess existing processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Skills/Knowledge

Bachelors/Masters degree with 5+ years of program and project management experience (Agile experience required) with demonstrated capabilities in successfully leading technology / software delivery programs and projects and 7+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree Proven experience coaching Product Managers and actively partnering with them to drive product vision, customer engagement, stakeholder alignment, and roadmap development - ensuring strong alignment between strategy, user needs, and delivery outcomes.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to resolve scheduling and other conflicts in order to meet all deadlines. Experience in PI Planning for different ARTs. Exceptional communications and stakeholder management skills – able to engage, communicate professionally and influence stakeholders and business partners.

Desired Skills/Knowledge

Ability to Remove Impediments:
Identify and eliminate obstacles that hinder the team's progress and productivity while shielding the team from external interruptions and distractions to help them stay focused and productive. Agile certification(s) with experience providing strategic consulting to business and technology stakeholders on how to achieve agility and improve time-to-value. Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of initiatives, epics, features in alignment with the product roadmap.

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor's/Master's degree with 5+ years of experience in Technology Delivery. In lieu of relevant bachelor's degree, 7+ years' experience in Governance, Risk and Compliance or related field.
