Position Overview

The Spanish Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality Spanish language instruction across primary and secondary grade levels following the Cambridge International Curriculum framework. The role includes planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, preparing learners for key Cambridge assessments, and fostering a positive learning environment that promotes intercultural understanding and effective communication.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver Spanish lessons aligned with the Cambridge Primary Level syllabi (as applicable to the school's offering).
Develop schemes of work that incorporate Cambridge learning objectives, linguistic skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing), cultural content, and global perspectives.
Use differentiated instruction strategies to support diverse learners, including EAL students and students with varied proficiency levels in Spanish.
Integrate communicative teaching methods, inquiry-based learning, and active student engagement.
Design and facilitate formative and summative assessments in alignment with Cambridge standards.
Prepare students for Spanish examinations (as applicable).
Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and maintain accurate records of progress.
Prepare report cards, assessment data, and conduct parent-teacher conferences as required.
Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that supports academic and personal growth.
Implement consistent classroom routines and behavior expectations aligned with the school's policies.
Encourage student participation, collaboration, and independent learning.
Contribute to the ongoing review and development of the Spanish curriculum and teaching resources.
Collaborate with department colleagues to ensure vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment across all grade levels.
Integrate digital tools and modern language-learning technologies into classroom practice.
Participate in staff meetings, professional learning communities, and school events.
Engage in continuous professional development, including Cambridge training courses.
Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
Uphold school policies, safeguarding practices, and Cambridge assessment guidelines.
