About

The Role

The Skating Coach is responsible for planning and conducting skating training sessions for students, promoting physical fitness, balance, coordination, and confidence. The role focuses on skill development, safety, and sportsmanship, while preparing students for school-level and inter-school skating competitions.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and conduct structured skating sessions for beginners and advanced learners.

Teach fundamental and advanced skating skills including balance, posture, speed control, turns, stops, and basic jumps (as age-appropriate).

Develop students' physical fitness, coordination, and endurance through drills and practice routines.

Identify talented students and provide advanced training where required.

Ensure strict adherence to safety rules and skating rink protocols.

Check that students use appropriate protective gear (helmets, knee pads, elbow guards, wrist guards).

Inspect and maintain skating equipment and report safety or maintenance issues promptly.

Supervise students closely to prevent injuries and handle minor injuries or emergencies responsibly.

Prepare students for intra-school, inter-school, district, and state-level skating competitions.

Assist in organising skating demonstrations, sports day events, and tournaments.

Accompany and supervise students during competitions and off-campus events.

Coordinate with Physical Education teachers and school management.

Maintain attendance, skill progress records, and performance reports of students.

Communicate training schedules, safety guidelines, and student progress to parents and school staff when required.

Qualifications

Certification or diploma in Skating (Inline / Roller / Speed / Artistic) from a recognized sports authority

Degree or diploma in Physical Education (B.P.Ed / equivalent) is preferred

First Aid certification is an advantage

Experience

1–3 years of experience coaching skating, preferably in a school or sports academy

Experience in training students for competitions is desirable

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of skating techniques and safety standards

Ability to work patiently with children of different age groups

Good communication and student-management skills

Physically fit, energetic, and disciplined

Passion for sports and youth development
