Dean - Product Design

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Academic Dean for Product design (industrial design) to join our team at Chitkara Design School, Chitkara University. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial design and possess exceptional leadership skills to oversee the academic department.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement academic programs for Product design (industrial design) that align with the school's mission and vision.
- Supervise and support faculty members in their teaching practices, research projects, and professional development
- Conduct regular evaluations of program curriculum to ensure it meets industry standards and stays relevant.
- Collaborate with other departments within the design school and beyond school to enhance interdisciplinary learning opportunities for students
- Oversee student recruitment efforts, working closely with the Career advancement service team.
- Plan department budget and resources effectively for discussion and approvals.
- Bring industry experts for various academes engagements like teaching, master class, conferences/symposiums, design festivals etc. Hence the candidate should have a strong industry network.
- Well versed with UGC, NAAC and other processes and documentations.

Qualifications:

- Master's or Ph.D. degree in industrial design.
- Total 15+ years of experience with minimum of 5 years experience in an academic leadership role within a design school setting
- Strong understanding of current trends and developments in the field of industrial design
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with faculty, staff, students, industry professionals, and other stakeholders.
