To provide all students with a physical learning environment that is safe, clean, attractive, and running smoothly.
Reports To- Director of Facilities/Designee

- Principal
Non-Exempt
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and push frequently; moderate to heavy physical exercise and exertion required
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use a backpack vacuum cleaner (~10 lbs)
- Empty wastebaskets and pencil sharpeners
- Sanitize sink and drinking fountain (if applicable)
- Clean restrooms (if applicable, using restroom procedures)
- Dust window ledges, bookcases, and chalk trays
- Refill dispensers (if applicable)
- Replace burned‑out light bulbs or tubes
- Dust mop tile floors or vacuum all carpeted areas
- Spot mop if needed
- Set blinds or curtains and close windows
- Clean classroom door glass
- Cleans blackboards, erasers and dry board
- Dust blinds and light fixtures
- Cleans all furniture and equipment
- Dust high and low corners for cobwebs
- Wet mop if needed
- Inspect parking lots and grounds at least three times per week for cleanliness and security
- Dust transom ledge and wash transom glass
- Light scrubbing and waxing
- Wash windows
- Edge all carpet
- Buff floor
- Wash out all wastebaskets
- Sweep corridors adjacent to classrooms
- Empty wastebaskets in corridor lockers
- Remove marks from walls and lockers
- Sanitize drinking fountains, including wall area around fountains
- Vacuum carpet and entry mats
- Wash entry door glass
- Spot mop
- Replace burned‑out lights
- Clean hand rails
- Wash trash receptacles in corridor lockers
- High and low dusting
- Wet mop
- Buff and refinishes floors
- Empty all trash containers and sanitary napkin receptacles
- Fill all dispensers (towel, tissue, soap, and napkins)
- Sweep floors
- Clean mirrors, walls, stalls, shelves, and doors
- Clean and disinfect urinals and stools
- Clean and sanitize all sinks and piping
- Clean and disinfect all stool lids, top and bottom, and leave up to dry
- Replace all lights that are burned out
- Mop all floors
- Dust top of lockers, window ledges, and stalls
- Clean and sanitize shower piping and soap dish
- In case of damage or vandalism, clean the restroom, lock the door, report any damage to the Head Custodian, who will unlock when resolved
- Dust light fixtures, vents, stalls, and walls
- Wash partitions with a disinfectant cleaner
- Wash all wastebaskets and sanitary napkin receptacles
- Dust corners for cobwebs
- Strip and refinishes floor
- Empty all wastebaskets
- Dust all furniture, window ledges, counters, and bookcases
- Clean glass on desks, doors, office windows, and transoms
- Clean and sanitize restrooms (using restroom procedures)
- Sweep all floors
- Dust light fixtures, blinds
- Wet mop
- Light scrub and re‑wax floors
- Sweep floor
- Clean and sanitize drinking fountains
- Dust bleachers, clean behind bleachers
- Clean door glass
- Spot mop as needed
- Empty all trash containers
- Clean carpet
- Spot mop where needed
- Sweep floors as needed (under seats also)
- Clean steps and dust ledges
- Set up before and after special events, e.g., basketball, volleyball, banquets, PTA meetings, staff meetings, etc.
- Snow removal, lawn care
- Assemble furniture
- Unload school supplies from delivery trucks
- Secure building
- Report problems to Head Custodian or supervisor
- Other duties as assigned
- Have knowledge of supplies stored in custodial closet
- Maintain adequate amount of supplies in custodial closet
- Organize and keep custodial closet clean
- Maintain proper working condition of mops and mop bucket, wringer, dust mops, and trash containers
- Duties as assigned by the Head Custodian, Facilities Department supervisors, or Principal
