Title: Financial Analyst – Ammunition Manufacturing

Location: Independence, MO

Salary: $77,600 - $98,000

Schedule: 9/80 Schedule

Focus: The Financial Analyst supports accurate product costing, financial reporting, and business decisions in a high-volume ammunition manufacturing environment. This role partners closely with production, finance, and operations to analyze production cost, identify cost trends, and provides insight to help drive business decisions. This position plays a key role in financial close processes, inventory control, variance analysis, while partnering closely with local operations and leadership teams.

  • Prepare and analyze weekly cost reports, providing insights and recommendations to drive business performance.
  • Lead weekly performance review meetings with operations teams to evaluate cost and operational results.
  • Support monthly budgeting and forecasting cycles through cost trend analysis and performance insights.
  • Participate in production meetings, delivering financial analysis to inform operational and business decisions.
  • Perform ad hoc financial and operational analysis in response to management and production group needs.
  • Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, variance analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with GAAP, FAR/DFARS, CAS, and strengthening internal controls and ERP/reporting processes.
Financial Analyst – Ammunition Manufacturing

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
    * in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3 years’ experience in accounting or finance;
    Experience with in a fast-paced manufacturing, defense, or ammunition manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP; working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and CAS strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems supporting general ledger and cost reporting;
    Deltek Costpoint and Cognos experience highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, communicate effectively, and collaborate across finance, production, and operations teams.
  • Must have valid U.S. Driver's License.
Location-Specific Requirements
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
