PRT - Center Attendant

Hiring for a part-time Center Attendant position in the Parks and Recreation Department. Duties include assisting with the coordination of recreation center programs, rentals, activities, and special events. Will process facility rentals, class registrations, and various other financial transactions. Responsibilities include answering telephones, data entry and other record keeping, interacting with the public, facility supervision and equipment set-up for special events.

Will assist with maintaining grounds and facilities. Open positions are at George Owens Nature Park and Palmer Center, but could be scheduled to work at other facility locations including the Uptown Market, Sermon Center and Truman Memorial Building.

• Assist with the coordination of recreation center programs, rentals, activities, and special events.
• Process facility rentals, class registrations, and various other financial transactions.
• Answer telephones, perform data entry and other record keeping, interact with the public, supervise facilities and set up equipment for special events.
• Assist with maintaining grounds and facilities.
• Be scheduled to work at George Owens Nature Park and Palmer Center, with potential assignments to other locations including the Uptown Market, Sermon Center and Truman Memorial Building.

• High school diploma or equivalent and six months experience with recreation programs preferred, or an appropriate combination of education, training, facility rentals, parks and other related activities desired.
• Bilingual skills beneficial.
• Ability to perform cash transactions and data entry on the computer.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public over the telephone and in person.
• Requires valid driver’s license.

• Frequently required to stand, walk, kneel, use hand and fingers to handle or feel and talk or hear, climb stairs, climb a 10 ft. ladder, crouch, crawl and lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.
• Ability to hear and use hand dexterity to operate a computer and cash register.

• Normal indoor setting, occasional outdoor exposure for programs or special projects.

HOURS AND DAYS OF WORK VARIED, INCLUDES DAYS, EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS.
