Staff Accountant

Heartland National Life Insurance Company is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our clients growing Accounting team. We are looking for someone with insurance experience that has had some exposure to statutory reporting that can hit the ground running! Key Responsibilities:

+ Reconcile investment portfolios, bank accounts, and cash management records

+ Prepare statutory schedules and performance reports on a monthly and quarterly basis

+ Create and file regulatory statements and supplemental filings

+ Develop reinsurance settlement schedules and executive management reports

+ Support financial audits and internal controls testing

+ Assist with special accounting projects and drive process improvements

Requirements

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting (preferred)

+ Minimum 3 years' insurance accounting experience

+ Public accounting experience and CPA a plus

+ Proficient in Excel; strong analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Knowledge of accounting principles and insurance industry practices
