We are looking for a friendly, engaging and confident Gardens Tour Guide to deliver tailored tours for private visiting groups at West Dean Gardens – one of the UK’s most distinctive and admired garden landscapes.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the visitor experience at West Dean, bringing the gardens to life through warm, knowledgeable and memorable guided tours. From horticultural highlights and seasonal planting schemes to history and heritage, you’ll help visitors connect with the story and spirit of West Dean.

About the role

You’ll lead private group tours for a variety of visitors including gardening clubs, specialist interest groups, corporate parties and educational visitors. You’ll tailor each tour to the audience, making every visit feel personal, welcoming and special.

You’ll be great in this role if you:

• Enjoy speaking to people and making them feel welcome
• Are confident presenting to groups
• Have an interest in gardens, horticulture and heritage
• Can share information in an engaging way (without it sounding like a script!)
• Take pride in delivering a high‑quality visitor experience

Experience in guiding, hospitality, visitor attractions or education is helpful, but not essential.
