Manufacturing Operations Shift Position Background:Arcelor Mittal Dofasco is now accepting applications for Summer Student positions in various Manufacturing Business Units starting May 2026. Job responsibilities will vary depending on the placement of the student. Successful students will be assigned and required to work in one or more of our Primary or Finishing Manufacturing Business Units.
Job Responsibilities may include:- Adhere to and fulfill all employee responsibilities set out in the Arcelor Mittal Dofasco Health & Safety Policy/Program.
- Perform daily maintenance and upkeep of production facilities and assets.
- Operate and handle a variety of handheld tools and materials.
- Perform administrative support and data entry activities.
- Actively participate as a member of the team.
- Perform internal duties as dictated within the department requirements.
- Support safety and good housekeeping practices.
- Support department goals and objectives.
Manufacturing Operations
- Participate in daily production activities as a Team Member which may include (but not limited to) the following based on business unit placement:
- Shoveling coke spillage from the Pusher and Coke side benches.
- Using a 6 and 12ft scraper to clean door channels and door jambs (sectional cleaning).
- Operating a scale car to select and weigh the appropriate raw materials to feed the process.
- Inspect the stock house equipment and process.
- Reducing the Sulphur content in iron by injecting Calcium carbide and Magnesium into the liquid iron.
- Managing inventory and ordering of packaging supplies.
- Strap coils using hand tools/Wrapping coils.
- Label coils with and inputting information into shipping tracking system.
- Basic coil condition inspection.
- Currently enrolled in full-time studies at a university or college and returning to school full-time in September 2026.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be available to work full time from beginning of May 2026 to end of August 2026.
- Preference will be given to those students enrolled in post‑secondary education closest to graduation and who have not previously worked at Arcelor Mittal Dofasco as a Summer Student.
- Students currently in high school and attending post‑secondary in September are not eligible to apply.
- Students who have previously worked at Arcelor Mittal Dofasco as a Summer Student are eligible to apply.
- Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (Safety glasses, steel toed boots, hard hat, respirator, hearing protection, long sleeves and long pants).
- May be required to operate equipment such as scissor lifts, pick‑up trucks, etc.
- Work 12 hour rotating shifts.
- Work at elevated heights.
- Climb ladders and stairs.
- Occasional heavy lifting.
- Use various hand tools.
- Work indoors and outdoors in elevated temperatures and humidity.
- Work in environments that may be dusty and noisy.
