the Role

Our Hamilton plant based in Pukete has been making Melteca board for over 40 years and you’ll find Melteca in your home, schools, hospitals, retirement villages, and commercial buildings. As a Machine Operator, you will play a vital role in our safety-driven production environment as you gain experience, you’ll take on responsibilities of setting machine parameters, monitoring system performance, making real-time adjustments via digital control panels and switches, operating forklifts, quality control and troubleshooting to ensure safe, smooth, and efficient production.

This role has rotating shifts: 4 days on and 4 days off – 2 days, 2 nights (42-hour week).

To succeed in this position, you should have:

  • A minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience as a Machine Operator in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proven ability to operate both industrial machinery and forklifts safely and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and a solid commitment to maintaining quality standards in a safe work environment.
  • Physically fit, and occasional shared lifting of up to 25 kg, and comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Quick to learn new processes, with strong technical aptitude and the ability to apply knowledge in a practical, hands-on setting.
  • Able to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
  • Basic computer literacy, with the ability to navigate digital control systems.
  • Preferred Class 1 Full Drivers Licence, and OSH Forklift Licence (advantageous).
