POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides administrative and reception support for the day-to-day operations of the Eye Clinic at the Centre for Ambulatory Health Services. All patient related details and departmental activities are coordinated to ensure the smooth operation of all services in accordance with the policies and procedures of the hospital.
- Post secondary diploma/certificate in medical office administration or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Medical terminology certificate preferred
- Minimum of 3 years clerical experience in a clinical setting is required
- Previous experience in a clerical position supporting a very busy and diverse clinical service is essential
- Basic skill level is required for MS Excel
- Intermediate skill level is required for medical terminology, medical spelling, spelling and typing
- Clerical testing may be required as part of the selection process
- Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work accurately and quickly in rapidly changing and diverse clinical settings
- Must be proficient in HBO patient information system, specifically order entry of radiology and laboratory tests and transcribing orders
- Must be computer literate and proficient in Windows and Outlook
- Must demonstrate use of the Patient Scheduling System
- Must be capable of independent judgment and autonomous action in a busy environment
- Must be able to exercise tact and diplomacy in the interface with health professionals, patients and families. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member is a must
- Satisfactory work performance and a good attendance record are essential
- Must be able to complete the orientation as required
