Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

Base Pay Range: $16.50/hr – $20.00/hr

Walgreens is transforming its pharmacy technician role from a transaction‑based environment to a patient‑centric one. As a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will interact with customers, build relationships, and receive training to achieve PTCB certification while helping pharmacists with pharmacy tasks.

• Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and in performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and ensure accurate entry of data.
• Operate pharmacy cash registers and coach other technicians on system use when PTCB certified.
• Deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience by greeting patients, offering assistance, resolving issues, and modeling best customer service practices.
• Support pharmacy operations: fill prescriptions, count and pour medications, verify drug use, schedule and maintain workflow, and report prescription errors promptly.
• Maintain the pharmacy’s look and inventory: keep the department stocked, clean, and organized; manage inventory checks and record discrepancies.
• Assist in clinical services, including patient sample collection, labeling, and coordination with healthcare clinics.
• Collaborate with local medical providers and attend outreach events to promote Walgreens pharmacy services.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as directed by the Pharmacy Manager or Staff Pharmacist.

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.
• Attend Manager‑requested training and obtain Continuing Education credits.

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• At least six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior experience working with Walgreens is a plus.
• Strong math skills for accurate prescription counting, measuring, and weighing.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification is preferred.
