Are you a natural connector with a passion for helping ākonga (students) find their path and a flair for delivering memorable events? Wintec is looking for an Engagement and Events Specialist to join our energetic Marketing and Engagement team.

This is an exciting full-time opportunity, focused on student recruitment, event delivery and community engagement. You'll be at the forefront of our efforts to attract future ākonga and support them to apply at Wintec, nurture key relationships, and bring our brand to life through dynamic, on-the-ground activity.

The appointing salary for this role
is $67,800
, dependent on skills and experience.

Key Responsibilities

The Engagement and Events Specialist is based in Wintec and will be responsible for:

Student Recruitment
  • Represent Wintec at secondary schools, careers expos, and community events - connecting with future ākonga and showcasing the exciting study opportunities available, with the goal of supporting students to apply for our programmes
  • Build and maintain relationships with key influencers including careers advisors, school leaders, whānau and community organisations who can refer students to us
  • Follow up with prospective students to support them through the application journey
Event Coordination and Delivery
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver a range of recruitment-focused events, including open days, campus tours, school visits, expos, and onboarding activities
  • Be hands‑on with event setup, logistics and pack‑down
  • Support institution‑wide events as needed
What to Expect in This Role

This role involves some travel throughout the Waikato region to visit schools and attend events. You'll work some evenings and weekends for events, and spend considerable time on your feet at expos, open days and campus tours. A full NZ driver's license is essential
. During peak recruitment periods, you'll be juggling multiple deadlines and priorities, and adapting to last‑minute changes as they arise.

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • An outgoing, confident personality with a genuine interest in education and youth development
  • Strong communication skills and experience presenting to a wide range of audiences - from one‑on‑one conversations to groups of 50+
  • The ability to juggle multiple tasks, stay calm under pressure, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Enthusiasm for connecting with people and motivating students to take the next step in their education journey
  • A full NZ driver's license

Experience in the education sector, sales, recruitment, event delivery, or a qualification in Business, Marketing or a related field will be a bonus.
