Working within the Southern Grampians Shire, the Occasional Care Educator is responsible for providing a high-quality, inclusive, and educational childcare environment. You will support the delivery of a program that meets the National Quality Standards (NQS) and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF), ensuring that every child and family feels a sense of belonging and equity.
Key ResponsibilitiesEducational Program & Practice:Design and implement play-based learning experiences that respond to the individual needs and interests of children. You will ensure the environment is physically safe and emotionally nurturing, fostering a space where diversity is celebrated.
Compliance & Regulation:Maintain rigorous standards in line with the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the Children’s Services Act 1996. This includes meticulous record-keeping, incident reporting, and maintaining health and safety protocols.
Community & Family Engagement:Act as a professional and warm point of contact for families. We pride ourselves on our inclusive approach; you will work collaboratively with parents to support their child’s development and provide updates that are transparent and encouraging.
Health, Safety & Wellbeing:As a member of a Council committed to community safety, you will strictly adhere to Child Safe Standards. You will also support the broader Community Wellbeing team during periods of municipal necessity, maintaining a focus on the welfare of our most vulnerable citizens.

Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care is desirable.
Minimum qualification required is a Certificate III of Early Childhood Education and Care that is recognised under the Children’s Services Regulations 2020. Experience working with children and families within an education and care setting.
Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management qualifications as recognised under the Children’s Services Regulations 2020.
