Overview
Fire Chief, Correctional, CF at Centinela State Prison provides leadership for fire prevention, fire suppression, education, and training program activities under the direction of the Correctional Administrator. The Fire Chief takes command at fire scenes and directs firefighting, rescue, and evacuation operations. This role may serve as Deputy Incident Commander for hazardous material spill/release incidents and coordinates with the Hazardous Material Specialist to ensure compliance with institutional, Federal, and State environmental regulations.
This position also supervises staff receiving Incarcerated Person Work Supervision Pay (IWSP) and certifies monthly that IWSP requirements are met. The Fire Chief performs duties of Health & Safety Officer and promotes acceptable attitudes and behavior among incarcerated people under supervision.
This is a 12-month Limited Term position that may extend to 24 months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. Qualification:
Possession of a California State Board of Fire Services certification as Certified Fire Officer or equivalent college coursework in Fire Science.
