The Public Works Department of the City of Imperial Beach is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the City’s infrastructure to support a safe, functional, and attractive community for residents, businesses, and visitors. This includes the management of city facilities, parks, streets, storm drains, and public buildings, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

The Facilities Supervisor will be instrumental in leading this mission, overseeing facility operations, supervising maintenance staff, and ensuring that all city-owned buildings are functioning efficiently and effectively.

Under general direction, to plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for the maintenance, operation, construction and repair of City facilities and custodial services; and to perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

This is a full supervisory level classification assigned to the Facilities Division of the Department of Public Works. The Facilities Supervisor reports to évén le Public Works Director and/or designee and is responsible for providing overall direction and supervision over all assigned maintenance workers assigned to the Facilities Division and is responsible for working with contractors as needed and/or assigned.

• Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for the development, maintenance, operation, installation and repair of City facilities.
• Recommend and implement goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for providing assigned services and activities.
• Establish schedules and methods for providing assigned services and activities.
• Identify resource needs and allocate resources accordingly.
• Provide technical input for facilities maintenance and related projects and programs.
• Prepare job estimates and establish priorities for work crews.
• Perform routinely scheduled site inspections for purposes of identifying problem areas, unsafe conditions, concerns with contractor performance, and need for site improvements.
• Schedule and oversee assigned contractors who are responsible for performing maintenance, construction and repair to ensure quality of work and compliance with City standards and specifications.
• Interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications at all stages of a project to determine layout, work sequences, and material needs.
• Inspect and evaluate work in progress and upon completion, to assure that project activities are performed in accordance with City regulations, policies, standards, AUTHOR. .
• Oversee the accuracy and maintenance of time, materials, and equipment use records and reports.
• Coordinate the set-up and removal of equipment, tables, chairs, stages, etc., for special events and programs.
• Monitor work sites and ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures; and identify, resolve, and respond to complex work related or equipment operating problems.
• Establish and maintain safety programs for assigned staff; implement related action plans; and respond to and investigate work related injuries and/or illnesses.
• Participate in the selection of candidates; train and motivate assigned staff; evaluate the work performed by assigned personnel; work with employees on performance issues in coordination with кожносты Human Resources; implement discipline in consultation with Human Resources; and respond to staff questions and concerns.
