Position: AIR TRANSPORTATION OPERATIONS SPECIALIST with Security Clearance
Location: Scott Air Force Base

Duties
* Applying health services administration, medical readiness, flight nurse/technician or Air Force military rated aviator experience, serves as the senior command technical joint exercise expert and focal point for aeromedical evacuation (AE) joint exercise policies and requirements.
* Leads or participates as a command AE/air transportation joint exercise operations technical expert in interagency groups to resolve problems regarding joint exercise feasibility issues.
* As one of the command's expert AE/air transportation joint exercise planners, applies a high degree of insight to isolate, identify, and define critical challenges to effective long-range AE/air operational exercise concepts and plans.
* Directs, schedules and organizes command exercise planning teams to perform command functional area review and planning of scheduled/assigned aeromedical evacuation joint exercises for combatant commands, services and MAJCOMs to ensure proper AE joint exercise planning and execution. * Disclosure of Political Appointments
* Flight Nurse, Flight Aeromedical Evacuation Technician Flight Instructor or Rated Air Force aviator experience as a staff officer in Headquarters Air Mobility Command is preferred, but not required.
* May travel by military or commercial air to conferences, meetings, or other functions away from the duty site.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
* Position requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Top Secret Special Access Programs) (SAP)
* This position may be subjected to drug testing. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions

EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12 , or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes; experience in maintaining, retailing, purchasing, or procurement of automotive, rail, air, bus, or other transportation equipment or services, or in the operation of a commercial transportation facility or terminal. This experience must have demonstrated knowledge of fleet operations;

familiarity with Federal, State, and municipal regulations governing the use of transportation vehicles; and the maintenance of inventories and cost computations;
Knowledge of AE operations, practices, policies and planning functions to develop, integrate, and coordinate aeromedical evacuation training and exercise plans and programs. Knowledge of the procedures related to AE flight and patient handling, routing, processes, and patient movement programs; weather and its effect on flying medical operations; airfield conditions; domestic and foreign heads of state security and how they affect safe flight and medical operations.

Mastery and knowledge of Air Force aeromedical airlift/transportation operations policies, concepts, principles and methodologies applicable to AE/air transportation operations under peacetime and wartime conditions to relate to and integrate with realistic exercise scenario development and build. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
