Family Service Specialist Responsibilities
- Assist families in crisis through DCFS programs, including Family Habilitation Services, Visitation, and Housing.
- Prepare written reports, maintain accurate records, and provide court testimony.
- Prepare and sign client progress reports monthly, documenting scheduled dates, units of service, specific goals, and recommendations for future service.
- Immediately report child abuse, neglect, significant events, and unusual incidents to supervisor.
- Attend all mandated training.
- Teach and demonstrate homemaking, parenting, anger management, and resource utilization in clients’ homes.
- Provide transportation for supervised visitation and observe parent‑child interactions, redirecting according to parenting needs.
- Help families locate housing (public, private rent, or shelter) throughout the local area.
- Assist clients with job searching and community resources.
Family Service Specialist Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution or two years of social work experience related to child welfare.
- Dependable automobile, valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance.
- Pass the CANTS background check and other required background checks.
Benefits
- Pay is $17/HR.
- Daily pay available for select positions.

- Reimbursement for mileage $0.70/mile.
Employee wellbeing is top priority at Addus Home Care. Eligible employees and their dependents will be offered medical, hospitalization, vision, and dental benefits through the employer-sponsored minimum essential plan. Employees are also eligible to enroll in an employer-sponsored retirement plan after 6 months of service (21 years of age). Accrued paid time off (up to 40 hours per year, based on hours worked).
All DCFS employees, who average a minimum of 25 hours over a three-month period, are eligible for holiday pay benefits.
