We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused MDU Construction Assistant to join our team. This role is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining fiber optic, and telecommunication services in apartment complexes, condominiums, and other multi-unit dwellings. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with fiber internet installation, excellent problem‑solving skills, and a strong commitment to providing high‑quality service to customers.
Key Responsibilities:- Install, configure, and troubleshoot fiber services in MDUs.
- Ensure proper placement and termination of splitters, and other networking equipment.
- Perform upgrades and modifications to existing services as needed.
- Test installed equipment and verify connectivity for seamless service activation.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service while on‑site.
- Educate customers on how to use and maintain their installed services.
- Address customer concerns and troubleshoot any issues efficiently.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, industry standards, and company guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring minimal disruption to customers.
- Conduct signal and performance tests using specialized tools to confirm service quality.
- Work with dispatch and other team members to ensure job completion within set time frames.
- Complete and submit detailed installation reports and service documentation.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Report any service or maintenance issues that require further action.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications are a plus.
- Prior experience in telecommunications, fiber optics, or broadband installation is preferred.
- Strong understanding of cable routing, wiring standards, and signal testing.
- Ability to use tools such as cable testers, signal meters, drills, and ladders.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environments (indoor/outdoor, attics, basements).
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
