Position SummaryHVAC Clean and Check Technician maintains customer equipment to ensure comfort and safety, promotes products and services, and upholds all safety standards, including safe driving and safe work habits. The role is field based in Northern Illinois with regular travel to customer home locations.
Responsibilities- Clean the customer's equipment to maintain efficiency and ensure total home comfort.
- Check equipment for defects that require repair or replacement for customer comfort and safety.
- Complete company paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Shut off or refuse to power customer equipment if a safety issue such as a cracked heat‑exchanger is identified.
- Provide own hand tools, including wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, inspection cameras, and others.
- Understand and comply with all safety policies.
- Comply with inventory policies and procedures of NHS and be accountable for inventory use.
- Complete all tasks assigned via the FSA app, including accurate billing, ordering parts and materials, and handling paperwork in a timely, legible manner.
- Show willingness to learn and take additional training to develop field proficiency (in‑house training, manufacturer training, videos, articles).
- Minimum 1 year HVAC experience.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- HVAC certification preferred.
- EPA certification required.
Physical Requirements
- Climbing, extreme hot or cold outdoors, heavy lifting, loud noise, use of ladders, crawling for registers, entering crawl spaces and attics to locate furnaces.
- Safety awareness, overhead hazards, equipment operations, wearing PPE as required.
- Reach, bend, extend and lift 50–60 lbs.
- Comfortable with heights.
- Ability to operate an iPad.
- EPA certification required.
Base pay range: $19.41 – $26.41 USD per hour. Compensation may include an annual performance‑based bonus, sales incentive plan or commission target. Benefits include healthcare, life insurance, paid time off, retirement plan, commuter benefits, and education reimbursement.
