This position involves installation and maintenance of machinery and equipment for Topflight Grain’s full-time and seasonal elevators, including troubleshooting mechanical failures and pneumatic and electrical systems.
Responsibilities- Gain a thorough knowledge of the equipment used in the operation of grain elevators and/or vehicles.
- Install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain a preventative maintenance program on machinery and equipment.
- Work with grain elevator dryers, drive and conveying systems, electrical and control systems, hydraulics, hoists, jacks, welding, fabrication, and industrial equipment installation.
- Repair small electrical problems.
- Climb ladders daily to heights generally ranging from 4 ft to 25 ft (with or without reasonable accommodation).
- Maintain a safe and sanitary workplace and promote safety among customers and employees.
- Load trucks and railroad cars if needed, and operate elevator equipment such as Bobcat, forklift, and front-end loader.
- Communicate daily with Operations Manager and/or Operations Asst. Managers to coordinate repair work.
- Maintain the general appearance of the facility, including elevator, grounds, and yard maintenance.
- Exhibit regular and prompt attendance with a professional image and positive attitude.
- Willingness to work weekends, seasonal hours, holidays, on-call, and overtime if needed.
- Work under time constraints and demonstrate general mechanical ability.
- 3+ years experience as maintenance/millwright preferred.
- Keeps up to date on government regulations concerning handling and storing grain (OSHA, state, federal).
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent; related work experience is preferred.
- Strong mechanical skills
- Working knowledge of tool manuals and automatic tools; level and alignment skills
- Effective communication with employees and customers
- Time management and planning
- Creativity, adaptability, self-starter, and dependability
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Class D license required to drive company pickup trucks
- Primarily outdoor work or inside grain elevators
- Exposure to noise, weather, grain dust, and moving machinery
- Regular exposure to grain and mechanical parts
