Position

Plumbing Apprentice is responsible for performing a wide range of plumbing tasks to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of building systems. This role covers scheduled maintenance and urgent responses to plumbing issues, including leaks, blockages, and component failures. The duties include but are not limited to various plumbing repairs, minor steam line repairs and re-routing, natural gas pipe repairs and re-routing, storm and sewage line maintenance and repairs, and preventative maintenance.

The position requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, and a commitment to high standards of workmanship and customer service. While our headquarters are in Naperville, this role is field-based and requires regular travel to customer home locations.

Responsibilities
  • Continuously provide the customer with the highest levels of customer service.
  • Tests for gas leaks in existing or new installations.
  • Provide emergency repairs to leaking, loose, clogged, or plumbing components in disrepair.
  • Perform plumbing repairs and upgrades including sinks, faucets, radiator valves, traps, toilets, bathtubs, drain lines, water supply lines, and natural gas line risers.
  • Install and maintain appliances such as hot water heaters, pumps, sump and sewage pumps and ejectors.
  • Requisition materials and supplies using in-house procedures.
  • Lay out, install, repair, or maintain pipelines for water, gas, or compressed air.
  • Cycle count inventory upon procurement’s request.
  • Maintain expected productivity, quality and safety metrics as outlined by the PHS Field Operations Department.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with plumbing license.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Preferred ability to operate iPad (computer skills).
Education and Certifications
  • High School or GED; must continue plumbing education as required by the company.
  • Current Apprentices License for applicable state.
Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this position is $27.78 - $40.86 hourly, with potential for an annual performance-based bonus, sales incentive plan, or commission target. Exact compensation depends on qualifications, experience, education, and skill set.
