Aviston Lumber, now Kirchner Building Centers, is hiring a Roofing Stocker to join our team! Kirchner Building Centers is a family owned and operated business serving East Central Illinois, Western Illinois, Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky. The company was founded in 1906 and continues to grow with each generation.

The Roofing Stocker primarily assists in the transportation and placement of roofing materials on job sites, often working with a shingle truck driver to deliver and stock materials on roofs. They are responsible for ensuring materials are delivered safely and efficiently.

This is a full time, in person position located in Aviston, IL.

Roofing Stocker Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Material Handling: loading, unloading and transporting roofing materials (shingles, tiles etc.) to the designated areas on the roof.
  • Assisting Shingle Truck Driver: providing directions, spotting for the driver and potentially operating equipment like conveyors to move materials onto the roof.
  • Material Placement: accurately placing materials on the roof as directed, potentially using cleats or other anchoring systems.
  • Safety Compliance: following all safety guidelines and regulations related to material handling, ladder and scaffold use, and working at heights.
  • Communication: communicating with the shingle truck driver, roofers, and other team members regarding material needs and delivery locations.
  • Additional Tasks: performing other additional tasks as needed, such as assisting with minor repairs or maintenance.
  • Perform other assigned tasks as requested by leadership team when needed
Pay

$20.00 per hour; overtime available based on business needs

  • Communication

    Skills:

    ability to communicate effectively with team members and follow instructions.
  • Safety Awareness: understanding and adhering to safety regulations and best practices.
  • Experience:

    may be entry-level or require some experience in construction or material handling.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Roofing Stocker Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.
  • Individual must have the ability to lift and carry heavy materials.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend for the duration of each shift.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Full time schedule includes a rotation of hours on Saturday’s.
  • Limited overtime based on business needs.
  • Working Hours:

    7:00am – 5:00pm (hours may vary by location / season; Saturday hours differ).
