Job Description

Responds, controls and oversees calls for assistance and alarms taking action and interventions to mitigate situations and to reduce injury, prevent property damage or loss. Patrols, assesses and secures organization’s properties and provides escorts and education to internal customers. Enforces criminal ordinances and administrative policies partnering with law enforcement and other community partners.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to security emergencies, control and oversee calls for assistance and alarms, take action and intervene per procedure and protocols to mitigate situations and reduce injury; investigate calls for services and prepare written reports.
  • Patrol and assess and secure organization’s properties; identify, evaluate and escalated threats and risks; patrol and provide escorts at company facilities and campuses; monitor critical building security systems; maintain and properly operate equipment including radio, emergency vehicle and TASER.
  • Act as shift lead; prioritize assignments, oversee operations in absence of a supervisor; participate and lead projects and programs; participate in hiring, onboarding, training and performance management.
  • Enforce criminal ordinances and administrative policies; make citizen arrests; partner with law enforcement; cite non-compliance related to administrative policies.
  • Serve as department liaison; partner with internal and community partners; provide education; serve on regulatory and security committees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies.
  • Completion or current enrollment of an Associate or Vocational degree or other postsecondary education.
  • 1 year experience in security, law enforcement, military policy or related field in lieu of degree required.
  • 2 to 5 years experience in security, emergency services, criminal justice or health care related.
  • 2 to 5 years experience in verbal and physical de-escalation, use of force, arrest laws.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Must meet at least ONE of the requirements: current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Allina in‑house BLS training (within 30 days of hire).
  • Valid Driver’s License required upon hire. MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver’s license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment.
  • International Association for Hospital Safety and Security (IAHSS) preferred.
  • OSHA First Responder preferred.
  • Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Very Heavy Work:
    Lifting weight > 100 lbs occasionally, > 50 lbs frequently.
Pay Range

Pay Range: $26.07 to $35.72 per hour. The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
