Our client, a nationally recognized laboratory, is seeking a highly experienced Microelectronics Strategy Consultant to support long‑term science and technology initiatives within their Microelectronics Institute. This role will work closely with senior leadership and subject‑matter experts to help shape microelectronics research strategy, strengthen industrial partnerships, and support proposal development efforts. The position plays a critical role in advancing domestic microelectronics capabilities, improving energy efficiency in next‑generation devices, and supporting national competitiveness and supply chain resilience.
The consultant will contribute strategic insight across materials, devices, systems, and applications, leveraging deep technical expertise and industry perspective to guide research direction and external engagement.
Job Duties:- Provide strategic guidance on science and technology priorities within microelectronics research and development.
- Assess organizational strengths, gaps, and opportunities to inform long‑term microelectronics strategy.
- Advise on partnership strategies with universities, national laboratories (including Fermilab), and industry stakeholders.
- Engage with potential industrial partners to support collaboration and technology transfer opportunities.
- Participate in proposal development activities, including shaping technical strategies and providing critical feedback.
- Contribute to planning and evaluation of large‑scale research initiatives and funding opportunities.
- Support leadership discussions, “big idea” meetings, and strategic planning sessions.
- Collaborate closely with senior researchers and institute leadership to align strategy with national priorities.
- Perform additional advisory duties consistent with experience and expertise.
- Ph.D. required in Microelectronics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline.
- Extensive experience in microelectronics research and development.
- Demonstrated leadership or management experience within R&D organizations.
- Strong understanding of the microelectronics ecosystem, including materials, devices, systems, and manufacturing considerations.
