Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking to hire a highly organized and detail-oriented Licensed Practical Nurse, PN
-Corrections. This position will be responsible for performing direct nursing care to individuals in a correctional facility. The successful candidate shall demonstrate a valid Illinois License and good oral and written communication skills, be a self-starter, and be able to carry out nursing pursuant to the direction of medical personnel in a correctional setting. Essential Functions
* Makes rounds with physician to monitor and report on patients' progress.
* Examines, recognizes, and interprets symptoms of patients.
* Orders medical and other supplies.
* Prepares and administers medication within the limits of authority.
* Participates in completing orientation and in-service training of employees.
* Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
* Requires Illinois license as a Practical nurse.
* Requires one (1) year of practical nursing experience.
This class is included as an Upward Mobility Program credential title.
Conditions of Employment
* Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
* Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs, including cannabis, by an employee, regardless of the position held is prohibited.
* Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and/or other medical standards as set out by the employer.
* Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department.
