The function of the Clinical Nurse Educator (Nursing Professional Development Practitioner (NPDP)), is to provide nursing professional development leadership in the development, coordination and implementation of educational programs and trainings that foster staff development and enhance the quality, safety and processes of patient care. The work environment for NPDP's includes the Learning (program related) and Practice (clinical nursing education related) Environments.
Duties:
* Executes responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care as it relates to clinical education and training. The RN demonstrates performance and leadership to improve the care for Veterans by leading learners.
* Works collaboratively with nursing leadership to provide leadership and assume continuing responsibility for the development, implementation, coordination, maintenance, and evaluation of the RNTTP program within the facility.
* Works to meet facility nursing staff training needs.
* Responsible for nursing competence assessment, maintenance, and improvement, annual nursing needs assessment, and nursing in-services and services to support nursing practice and improve nursing care delivery.
* Systematically evaluates current practice and formulates plans for the evaluation of outcomes for groups of learners, (patients as needed) and/or health care systems.
* Actively participates in the advancement of clinical simulation education through contributions to knowledge development and education.
* Initiates and prepares necessary reports and correspondence and submits in a timely manner as appropriate and directed by leadership.
* Participates in course/program debriefing and recommends changes at the program or service level to meet those standards.

Pay:
