Job SummaryThe RN Trainer is responsible for performing assessments and responding to emergency situations. Responsible for communicating concerns with medical provider/Director of Nursing /Administration. In addition, the Nurse will provide oversight of resident medical needs for assigned area and appropriate training for staff member assigned to areas while providing person centered experiences and supporting each person in living a meaningful and satisfying life.
This position is a manager and supervisor for CNAs. The RN Trainer's administrative duties are split 50% in the SNF program and 50% in the ICF/DD program. This position combines clinical and administrative nursing skills with risk management and working with residents, other team members, guardians, doctors and community partners to provide the highest level of person centered care.
This position is part of the administrative nursing team and is on-call in a rotation (1 week out of
5). This position is responsible for a working 1 supervisory floor shift per week (12p-8p). This role is full time with flexibility for selecting 8 hour or 10 hour shifts and typically works weekdays. Compensation is received for on call responsibility. There is also shift differential of $2 for any evening, weekend shifts.
- Trains all departments on designated items. Ex: a new medical device may need training to nurses, CNAs and/or DSPs depending on the device & resident. An infection control process may need trained to housekeeping and dietary as well as previously listed positions.
- Completes orientation, new hire, and DSP trainings as part of the training committee.
- Works closely with multiple departments to ensure high quality of standards are trained to employees.
Must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois in good standing and maintain such licensure. Must have 1 year of RN experience. Must be willing to and obtain and Illinois Nurse Trainer Certification. Must be proficient in the use of computer and programs utilized by the facility. The RN must have the ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing with individuals, families/guardians, other team members, physicians, and other medical professionals while maintaining HIPAA responsibilities.
A valid IL Driver's license is required. Must possess the desire to provide care to and advocate for individuals at the highest level of quality. Continuing education and training is mandatory. Additionally, the ability to take initiative, make independent judgments, and promote teamwork is required to successfully fulfill this job's responsibilities.
