Pay or shift range: $28 USD to $35 USD
The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job‑related reasons.
DescriptionThe Oncology Nurse evaluates, plans, implements, and documents nursing care for the oncology patient. The RN provides a range of patient care, including insertion of IV lines, responsible for drawing blood via peripheral IV sites, port‑a‑caths, and PICC lines. Other clinical duties include the administration of chemotherapy, blood components, oxygen set up, monitoring vital signs and supportive care. All necessary training for the handling and administration of chemotherapy will be provided upon hire and is not a requirement to apply for this position.
The RN needs to be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within their field. Relies on experience and judgment to accomplish goals. Provides accurate documentation and charges for services provided. Upholds organizational quality standards. Notifies physician of changes in patient’s condition. RN will also perform the following duties as needed: phone nurse triage of patient symptoms, refill requests, rooming of patients to see oncology provider, and will be expected to work until 5:00 pm on 1 to 2 shifts per week on a rotational schedule with other staff.
Schedule: Monday‑Friday, no weekends or holidays.
Hours: 7:45 am - 4:15 pm
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Licensed and current registration as a professional nurse in the State of Illinois.
- Current CPR certification.
- Clinical experience preferred.
- Successful completion of a Basic Oncology Nursing and Cancer Chemotherapy Course within six months of hire.
- Good working knowledge of the nursing process and strong nursing practice skills including physical assessment skills.
