The A&A Site Ecosystem Strategist is accountable for end-to-end architectural integrity across industries. This role owns the cross-industry site and systems architecture, governs commonality across Caterpillar industries, and ensures that industry specific solutions align to a unified Cat Technology ecosystem. The role leads cross-industry design reviews, establishes architectural guardrails, and ensures strategic intent is translated into consistent execution through requirements management, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and enterprise architecture practices.
What You Will Do:- Cross Industry Architecture & Commonality Governance
- Own and govern the cross industry architectural integrity of the Cat Technology ecosystem.
- Define and enforce architectural guardrails that ensure commonality across industries while allowing intentional, value based differentiation where required.
- Serve as the architectural authority for cross industry tradeoffs, ensuring that local optimization does not erode enterprise level coherence.
- Ensure that solutions developed within one industry remain compatible, reusable, and scalable across other Caterpillar industries.
- Enterprise & Site Architecture Ownership
- Define, own, and evolve the overall site level and system of systems architecture for Cat Technology across all Caterpillar industries.
- Establish and maintain reference architectures that guide industry, platform, and product teams.
- Ensure alignment between industry specific implementations and industry independent system engineering support.
- Strategy Execution Across Industries
- Ensure Caterpillar technology strategy is executed consistently across Surface Hauling, Underground, Construction, Industrial & Waste, Road Construction, and emerging industries.
- Translate enterprise strategy into cross industry architectural patterns, shared requirements, and technology roadmaps.
- Identify gaps, overlaps, and unintended divergence across industries and drive architectural convergence where appropriate.
- Design Leadership & Governance
- Lead and facilitate cross industry and enterprise design reviews for site level, system level, and platform architectures.
- Provide architectural approval and guidance for initiatives that span multiple industries, platforms, or product families.
- Govern architectural decisions made during solution definition remain intact through delivery and execution.
- Systems Engineering & Commonality
- Govern common domains (e.g., site management, operator management, equipment management, safety, data/APIs, materials management) to ensure they are architected for reuse, scalability, and long term evolution.
- Drive consistent application of requirements management, MBSE, and enterprise architecture practices across Cat Technology.
- Partner with industry and product teams to balance delivery needs with ecosystem sustainability.
- Collaboration & Influence
- Act as a trusted architectural steward across Cat Technology, autonomy, robotics, and industry organizations.
- Influence technical decisions across organizational boundaries without direct authority.
- Strategic Thinking
- Applies enterprise level thinking to govern commonality and prevent fragmentation across industries.
- Balances industry specific execution needs with ecosystem wide architectural integrity.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant engineering related field.
- Proven experience in Systems Engineering for Site Technology Solutions
- Experience partnering with stakeholders to understand business models and objectives to create effective solutions
- Proven experience leading projects with empathy and conflict management
- Model-based Systems Engineering Experience preferred
