THE ROLE
The Maintenance Mechanical position is responsible for maintaining all plant production and service equipment in reliable operating condition.
All duties are performed in a work-safe manner, following plant safety rules and procedures. The role requires collaboration with team members to ensure continuous and efficient plant operations.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING- Perform maintenance work on plant production and service equipment.
- Maintain and manage tools used within the department.
- Repair and eliminate product spillage to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, skid loaders, and telehandlers.
- Operate heavy equipment including chain falls and come-alongs.
- Perform electric arc welding and related fabrication tasks.
- Perform maintenance duties in accordance with safety procedures and standard work instructions.
- Work independently and collaboratively within teams.
- Work overtime as necessary to support plant operations.
- Understand and comply with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies to ensure safety remains the top priority.
- Actively support and participate in facility safety initiatives and continuous EHS improvement efforts.
Education:
- High School Diploma required
- Prior cement plant experience or equivalent experience sufficient to understand plant processes, equipment locations, and operational functions
Competencies:
- Proficiency in safe use of standard mechanical and maintenance tools
- Knowledge of plant safety procedures and regulations
- Welding experience (electric arc welding required)
- Ability to operate forklifts, skid loaders, telehandlers, and lifting equipment
- Ability to navigate a cement plant environment, including climbing stairs and ladders
- Ability to walk over obstacles and uneven surfaces
- Ability to lift heavy or awkward components
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions with exposure to extreme heat and cold
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, fall protection, and respirators
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respirators.
- Subject to applicable law, employees required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass qualitative and quantitative fit testing.
