JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTUREThe Quality Lead will help lead the members of the Quality Control Team for a manufacturing facility, performing routine bacteriological and chemical testing of blended and spray-dried products. The role works with other departments to ensure all company and regulatory standards are met, and backs up the QA Manager in their absence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Review daily quality paperwork.
- Assist with regulatory inspectors and third‑party auditors to ensure compliance to standards.
- Ensure plant is “audit ready” through regular floor inspections.
- Run chemical, physical, organoleptic, bacteriological, and shelf‑life analysis of finished product produced in the plant.
- Serve as a member of the HACCP team.
- Maintain Document Control program.
- Monitor, through auditing, inspection, sampling and testing, incoming ingredients, processing, packaging, and sanitation to ensure the safety and quality of all finished goods.
- Train and direct QA laboratory personnel to assure accurate and efficient laboratory practices and record keeping.
- Create COA’s for finished products.
- Investigate out‑of‑specification finished products.
- Assist in training of all plant personnel regarding good housekeeping, proper sanitation, and product handling.
- Work closely with operations personnel to prevent and resolve quality issues.
- Back up the QA Manager and Production Supervisors in their absence for any quality related function.
- Other responsibilities and tasks added as needed.
The employee must wear approved clothing, a hair net, and hearing protection, as required when working in production areas.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEAssociate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred within Food Science, Safety, or Quality Management. 1+ years in a quality role within a manufacturing facility preferred. Minimum 1 year food production experience.
BRC REQUIREMENTS / RESPONSIBILITIESSupport BRC by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner. Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. Backs up QA Manager in their absence.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze and interpret quality assurance documents and compliance regulations; write reports, policies, and procedure modules; effectively present information and respond to questions concerning quality issues from groups of managers, executives, and employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to calculate figures and amounts relating to quality; apply concepts of basic algebra and statistics.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret governmental laws and technical information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHERSKILLS and ABILITIES
Requires the ability to organize and coordinate quality procedures; general understanding of usage, maintenance, and calibration of all lab equipment; experience updating procedures; overall understanding of product specifications, appearance, and body/taste requirements.
