AGI (Yargus) in Marshall, IL currently has straight day‑shift openings Monday – Friday for experienced MIG welders capable of performing a variety of welding functions. The individual should be familiar with and able to use various types of welding equipment.
Responsibilities- Read and interpret blueprints and machine drawings to determine specific welding requirements.
- Connect cables from welding units to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse as specified by engineering.
- Manually guide the electrode or gun along the weld line, maintaining the length of arc and speed to form the specified depth of fusion and bead, judged from the color of metal, sound of the weld, and size of the molten puddle.
- Work in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Examine welds for bead size and other specifications.
- Select the torch, torch tip, filler rod, and flux according to welding chart specifications or material type and thickness.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form (safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals, procedure manuals).
- Ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must be able to read a tape measure and perform simple shop math, including converting decimals to fractional equivalents.
- Ability to use weld fillet gauges to ensure proper weld size and interpret tolerances.
