As a Manufacturing Engineer at Irwin, you will take a leadership role in implementing and improving manufacturing operations within the assigned focused factory or work area. This position focuses on process enhancements, cost reduction strategies, product improvement, and new product development. You will leverage your technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and innovative mindset to drive continuous improvement, support operational excellence, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
ResponsibilitiesEquipment and Process Management
- Facilitate the justification, procurement, and implementation of new equipment to meet manufacturing needs.
- Oversee and execute improvements to existing equipment and production processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Design and implement manufacturing processes for new product introductions, ensuring alignment with operational requirements.
- Perform CAD drafting and maintain engineering drawings to support manufacturing initiatives.
- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods to drive efficiency and productivity.
- Analyze workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow; design and optimize equipment layouts and work spaces for maximum efficiency.
- Improve department layouts and value stream flows to support streamlined operations and material movement.
- Implement innovative process strategies to enhance operational performance and support daily production activities.
- Lead Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, including facilitating CI events and activities.
- Utilize problem-solving methodologies, statistical analysis, and Lean tools to drive improvements in quality, cost, and delivery metrics.
- Support and drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment on improvement initiatives and achieve targeted results.
- Lead and support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities for new product launches, ensuring smooth integration into manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to execute Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and maintain documentation accuracy.
- Participate in ECN meetings to provide insights and recommendations on product and process changes.
- Troubleshoot production issues to resolve product quality concerns and implement effective solutions.
- Provide hands-on support to manufacturing cells and operations, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Develop and maintain detailed work instructions to guide production teams and ensure consistency in operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field preferred; minimum 2+ years of relevant industry experience required.
- Proficiency in CAD software for design and drafting.
- Strong knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and familiarity with Continuous Improvement (CI) tools and methodologies.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and value stream mapping.
- Adaptable and agile change agent with a proactive mindset toward problem-solving.
- Customer-focused mindset with a demonstrated ability to solve complex problems effectively.
- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot issues and optimize manufacturing processes.

FLSA Status: Exempt
Compensation: The base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000 - $90,000. Within this range, individual pay is determined based on several factors, including but not limited to: relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and complexity of the role.
