Machine Operator - 2nd Shift

Join Scotts Miracle‑Grove’s vibrant production team. This hourly role follows the Scotts/Hawthorne step pay progression scale and typically starts at $23.30 per hour, paid weekly. Compensation is influenced by your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.

• Operate a computer‑controlled production system for multiple raw material ingredients processed in a mix room.
• Solve daily operational problems with limited supervision.
• Actively maintain good housekeeping standards in your assigned area.
• Complete daily job checklists and equipment checks/calibrations to maintain quality.
• Maintain accurate records of raw materials, samples, and equipment operations.
• Operate a forklift to transport materials.
• Perform safety audits on equipment.
• Set up machines at the beginning of each shift to ensure proper working order.
• Perform testing procedures to ensure machines work optimally during production.
• Maintain and clean machines before and after each shift.
• Feed information such as speed, shapes, and sizes through the machine set‑up box.
• Place parts in semi‑automated machines.
• Calibrate machines at the beginning of each shift and recalibrate at the end of each shift.
• Monitor machines during every procedure to ensure optimum running.
• Troubleshoot problems during machine operation.
• Ensure that regular and preventive maintenance procedures are carried out.
• Perform random tests to ensure accuracy.
• Perform safety checks on every machine.
• Ensure machines produce quality products by managing periodic checks on output.
• Ensure stocks of needed materials are ready and available at all times.
• Maintain activity logs and downtime sheets.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of production plant experience (preferred).
• Able to identify all materials used and follow safe practices and procedures.
• Ability to read English and follow directions.
• Able to work in a dusty environment, hot/cold/rainy weather, lift 50 pounds, and climb ladders while standing continuously for an entire shift.
• Willingness to work mandatory overtime, including weekends and holidays.
