Machine Repair Mechanic - 2nd or 3rd Shift

Position:
Machine Repair Mechanic (2nd or 3rd Shift) at Caterpillar Inc. located in Mapleton, Illinois.

Salary starts at $35.81/hr plus $1.00/hr shift differential.

As a Machine Repair Mechanic you will inspect equipment, plan repairs, check blueprints, fabricate parts, and use hand and power tools to dismantle, repair, and reassemble machinery. You will operate machines such as drill presses, lathes, mills, grinders, power saws, and cutting & threading machines.

• Perform maintenance pipe fitting on all equipment.
• Change, set up, and adjust equipment as required.
• Lubricate or direct others to lubricate equipment.
• Use common and precision checking equipment, laser equipment, and portable power tools to install, repair, and maintain pumps.
• Operate hydraulic equipment, metal cutting and forming equipment, compressors, valves, turbines, steam delivery systems, and material handling equipment.

• Successfully pass a 2‑hour skills exam.
• 3‑5 years of maintenance experience.

• Be able to work near high voltage electricity, molten metal, heavy equipment, various gases, moving machinery, high above the floor, and in congested or confined areas.

• Strong mechanical background.
• Machine shop experience.
• Technical degree or diploma.
• Ability to weld, cut, solder, and braze.
