We are seeking a skilled and experienced Technician-In-Charge (TIC) to oversee the daily operations of our maintenance facility. This role is responsible for supervising a team, ensuring vehicle safety and compliance, and performing hands-on mechanical work as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities- Supervise daily activities of shop staff.
- Schedule and manage fleet maintenance and repairs.
- Review repair orders and delegate tasks effectively.
- Ensure compliance with State, Federal, and Company regulations.
- Collaborate with the Contract Manager on maintenance updates and budgets.
- Order fuel, parts, and coordinate subcontracted repairs.
- Oversee facility and grounds maintenance.
- Perform hands-on mechanical work as needed.
- Communicate vehicle availability with dispatch and management.
- Manage employee performance, training, and development.
- Repair and maintain diesel engines and school bus equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in transportation maintenance.
- 3+ years of mechanical experience or trade school training with certifications (e.g., Preventative Maintenance, Brake).
- 3+ years of mechanical management experience preferred.
- CDL Class B with Passenger (P) endorsement (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire).
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work early morning hours.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fleet management systems (e.g., Manager+).
- Commitment to safety and compliance with OSHA and other regulations.
