Job Description

Summary

We are seeking an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to lead costing and performance management for Wabtec Bus Solutions. This role drives cost efficiency, develops annual standard costs, oversees daily costing activities, and partners with Engineering and Operations to optimize financial performance.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain standard costs; analyze impact on P&L and product margins.
  • Prepare cost estimates for new products and support pricing decisions.
  • Manage monthly close activities, including variance analysis, inventory reconciliation, and cost journal entries.
  • Monitor compliance with cycle counting programs and coordinate physical inventory activities.
  • Maintain accurate cost data in Oracle; report significant cost changes and margin impacts.
  • Analyze design, material, and process changes for cost implications; recommend efficiencies.
  • Support new product development and sales quoting with cost analysis and estimates.
  • Prepare operating budgets, margin reports, and investigate deviations from plan.
  • Participate in kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements for inventory.
  • Other ad hoc projects/tasks as needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 4–10 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in cost systems and ERP platforms (Oracle preferred).
  • Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Business acumen with focus on quality and continuous improvement.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
